How to cite the web site correctly

Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery but copying is breach of copyright! You can, however, use the web site content and the opinions of its authors in an essay or dissertation so long as the material so used is correctly referenced.

We, along with many educational establishments, favour the Harvard system of referencing which is perhaps better known by students who have to refer to written sources in a list of citations at the end of works such as essays or research.  Electronic sources are essentially the same and the standard way of referencing applies, as in the following example:

Serioussaab. (2009). Oil, strainers and breather systems in 4 cylinder SAAB 9-5 petrol engines: a study (web site).  Available from www.serioussaab.co.uk/articles/sludge.html [ accessed date]
